Michael Nesmith – Different Drum: The Lost RCA Recordings- LTD(2XLP) Farget vinyl

The composer of hits for Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys –Michael Nesmith-was also the woolly-cap-wearing member of the Monkees, making him one of the earliest exponents of the country-rock sound. “The Lost RCA Victor Recordings” contains 22 tracks from the RCA Victor archives. All tracks have not been released in any physical format before.

They come from the six albums Nesmith recorded for RCA Victor from 1970 to 1973 under the aegis of Nashville legends Chet Atkins and Felton Jarvis – seminal country-rock albums with a spiritual quality unique to Nesmith’s crack band.

J. “Red” Rhodes includes cosmic reinterpretations of Monkees favourites like “Tapioca Tundra”, “Magnolia Simms”, “Circle Sky” and “Listen to the Band” Unheard outtakes like “American Airman” and “Six Days on the Road” as well as completely different alternate takes of “Different Drum”, “Dedicated Friend” and “Tengo Amore”. Mixed from the original multitracks by Andrew Sandoval.
